Autumn Series #1 - Cosy Knits

There's something so grand about Autumn - the golden, auburn, copper leaves which litter the floor, the crunch of gravel as we tread the Earth in our burly boots, the crisp, sharp air kissing our cheeks with colour as we snuggle up in our cosy, snug Autumn garments. Yep, this has to be my favourite season. I mean who can complain about no longer needing an excuse to lounge around in baggy, oversized sweaters, thick, woolly leggings and luxurious, cashmere scarves whilst still looking effortlessly fab!?

There's no doubt that knitted sweaters are the central piece of any autumn outfit. This year the style is all about the minimalistic, dainty look. This means neutral tones, pastels, classic shapes and subtle patterns which I am very pleased about. You can't get more elegance and finesse then this!

So let's kick start the Autumn series with a whole blog on...you've guessed it...sweaters and how to wear them!

1. The turtleneck.  You can't do a sweater blog without mentioning the infamous turtleneck. This classic, timeless piece has become one of my favourite go to pieces for those lazy days. I think the best way to wear them is loose and paired with skinny jeans and pumps. To get that sophisticated edge, its all about the messy, scraped up hair, buns or simply tucking your hair partly into the jumper itself.

2. The dainty details are the key to making your outfit go from high street to runway.
See how by rolling up her sleeves, this plain outfit is instantly transformed into something much more chic and edgy.

The half tuck gives waist definition and is just that much more classy. If you're wearing trousers, a skinny belt is key for that extra colour and lift.

3. The collarwhether it be a case of wearing a shirt underneath or necklace, is right on trend. This year collars are back in fashion with anything from sharp, minimalistic collars to rounded, embellished collars being sighted.

4. Sweater and skirt.  For the perfect autumn date outfit, wear a cable knit on top of a delicate dress or skirt and wrap a matching belt over the top. Alternatively, you can achieve a similar look with a cardigan. Make sure you accessorise with plenty of cute bracelets.

5. Scarves, boots and socks... again it's all about the detail. I think having both black and brown ankle boots is a must because they are so versatile. Stock up on leggings, woolly tights and range of long, thick socks to go with them for that forever in fashion college look.
